Climate change disclosures newsletter: November 2024

Climate change disclosures newsletter: November 2024 The IFoA’s Climate Change Disclosures Working Party has published its November 2024 newsletter. It provides an update on disclosure requirements around the globe since the first newsletter in May 2024.

Climate change disclosures, as well as broader environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures, are important tools to help stakeholders understand the risks faced by companies and the impact companies have on the environment.

They are tools to help us understand where companies are on their journey to net zero. They act as potential signposts to remind companies about the commitments they have made.

Over recent months, the ever changing landscape for climate disclosure is continuing to evolve at a rapid pace. The International Sustainability Standards Board ISSB is considering broadening its future scope on disclosures to include biodiversity and human capital. Local legislation in Australia has received royal ascent and the audit standard ISSA 5000 has been approved.

Our second newsletter provides an update on climate change disclosure requirements across the world since May 2024. This covers a wide range of topics including anti-greenwashing legislation, NGO updates, updates to local legislation and stock exchange requirements, and disclosure technology.

This newsletter will be a regular update from our working party, where we hope to share updates at the latest every six months going forwards.
